Aviassist adds DJI Matrice 400 to training fleet

Introduction of DJI Matrice 400 to training fleet

Aviassist is pleased to announce the integration of the DJI Matrice 400 into our fleet for Remote Pilot Licence Multirotor 25kg training. This enhancement underscores Aviassist’s commitment to providing relevant, industry-leading RPAS training.

The DJI Matrice 400 represents a significant advancement in drone technology. Its capabilities, including extended flight time and the ability to connect multiple payloads within the 6kg payload capacity, establish a new standard in small enterprise drone operations. This makes it particularly well-suited for diverse applications such as infrastructure inspection, emergency response, and advanced mapping.

Drone Instructor with DJI Matrice 400

Previously, much of the industry’s training and assessment relied on older-generation aircraft like the DJI Matrice 600. While foundational operational principles remain consistent, these older models are rapidly becoming obsolete in professional environments. The M600, once a staple for various tasks from film production to data gathering, is rarely encountered in active commercial operations today. Our transition to the DJI Matrice 400 ensures that our clients train on equipment that reflects current industry standards and prepares them for real-world deployments beyond their initial Remote Pilot Licence course.

With Aviassist’s initial training offering a Remote Pilot Licence that allows operations of drones up to 25kg- rather than being limited to 7kg as in some other programs - finding a suitable replacement for the DJI Matrice 600 has been challenging. Few true options have been available in the 7kg to 25kg bracket that reflect what industry uses on a daily basis. With the introduction of the DJI Matrice 400 which closely ties to industry best practice, the relevance of the RPA rejoins the remainder of the fleet

DJI Matrice 400 availability

The DJI Matrice 400 will initially be available for RPAS training in Aviassist’s Perth and Brisbane bases, with a nationwide rollout to other Aviassist base locations in Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle, and Sydney planned over the next few months.

The DJI Matrice 600 will remain allocated to custom course locations due to the ease of travel with smaller batteries.
